BIO-SUSHY Project Partners Present “Safe and Sustainable by Design Framework for PFAS-free Coatings” at SURFBIO’s Policy Roundtable
The BIO-SUSHY project took center stage at a closed Policy Roundtable organized by SURFBIO (the Innovation Hub for Surface and Colloid Biology) in collaboration with our partner, AXIA Innovation. The roundtable aimed to bring together EU experts, policy members, and stakeholders in standardization, intellectual property (IP), and Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approaches.
During the event, two key participants from the BIO-SUSHY project, ITENE and Materia Nova (project coordinator), delivered a joint presentation titled “BIO-SUSHY Safe and Sustainable by Design Framework for PFAS-free Coatings.” The presentation highlighted the project’s innovative approach to developing coatings free from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) while ensuring safety and sustainability throughout the design process.
The primary objective of the SURFBIO Policy Roundtable was to present the outcomes of the SURFBIO project and leverage the expertise of attendees to gather recommendations on essential protocols, regulations, policy trends, and opportunities. The participation of ITENE and Materia Nova in the event provided an opportunity to learn new techniques, understand different perspectives, and gain valuable insights that may have previously gone unnoticed. The experiences shared by the attendees also contributed to identifying best practices, avoiding potential pitfalls, and ensuring that the work aligns with industry standards.
