Wood K Plus Showcases at “Research, Technology, Innovation: Highlights of the Bio-Based Industry” Event in Vienna
Wood K Plus, a BIO-SUSHY project partner, participated with a booth at the “Research, Technology, Innovation: Highlights of the Bio-Based Industry” event held at the Austrian Chamber of Commerce in Vienna on December 12, 2023.
Organized by the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK), in collaboration with the Chemical Industry Association (FCIO) and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), the event focused on the latest developments and innovations in the bio-based industry, with this year’s theme centred around “biorefinery.”
Wood K Plus actively contributed to the communication of the BIO-SUSHY project by hosting a booth at the event. The team engaged with approximately 130 participants, distributing informative flyers and actively participating in discussions about the pivotal role of biorefineries in transitioning to a circular economy independent of fossil raw materials.
The event emphasized the importance of processing and converting biomass, addressing challenges related to competition for space with food production and the increasing demand for renewable raw materials. The integrated biorefinery concept, optimizing regional biogenic raw materials and their components, was highlighted as a promising avenue for a more sustainable future.
The event, celebrating its 10th anniversary, showcased current research projects on the innovative use of renewable raw materials, mainly focusing on biorefineries.
The event provided a valuable platform for actors from business, science, and politics to network and exchange experiences, reinforcing the commitment of Wood K Plus and the BIO-SUSHY project to advancing sustainable practices in the bio-based industry.
