BIO-SUSHY Food Tray Case Study Showcased as Example of SSbD Implementation at PARC Meeting

The BIO-SUSHY project was recently featured as an example in applying the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework at a dedicated meeting of the European Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals (PARC).

Ivana Burzic of Wood K Plus presented our food tray packaging as a case study, emphasizing our PFAS-free, bio-based coatings that meet rigorous safety and sustainability standards from the start.

The online meeting brought together PARC partners and representatives from the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) to share experiences and support the development of the EU SSbD toolbox. This collaboration aims to strengthen a unified approach to safer and more sustainable chemical assessments, advancing European environmental and health protection.

Demonstrating a strong commitment to the SSbD principles across initiatives, Ivana Burzic also presented the automotive case study from the SSbD4CheM project, where Wood K Plus plays a leading role.

This activity highlights BIO-SUSHY’s active role in the European SSbD dialogue and positions our project as a benchmark for sustainable material development.
