BIO-SUSHY at NanoTox 2024
The BIO-SUSHY project proudly participated in the 11th International Conference on Nanotoxicology (NanoTox 2024), held in the beautiful city of Venice from September 23-25, 2024. This prestigious event gathered approximately 300 attendees, including leading researchers, industry experts, and policymakers, to discuss the latest advancements in nanotoxicology.
NanoTox is a recurring conference that serves as a key platform for the nanotoxicology community to share research, discuss challenges, and explore new solutions. The 2024 edition was jointly organized by the leading EU-funded H2020 Projects DIAGONAL, HARMLESS, and SUNSHINE. The main focus of the conference was on the challenges related to safe and sustainable multicomponent nanomaterials, including the development of novel tools for evaluating human and environmental hazards, strategies for nanomaterial characterization, classification, grouping, and read-across for risk analysis and sustainability assessment
BIO-SUSHY made a significant impact with two insightful oral presentations:
- Andrea Lorenzoni from the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) presented in Session 5C: Data Analysis with Big Data Management and Modelling Solutions. His presentation, titled “Advancing Safe and Sustainable Materials Design through Multiscale Modelling and Data Integration,” highlighted the innovative approaches in data-driven and multi-scale modeling to enhance the safety and sustainability of material design, especially related to the novel BIO-SUSHY bio-based coatings with water and oil repellent properties.
- Ashi Rashid from the University of Leeds contributed to Session 7B: Risk Governance – Horizon Scanning and Foresight & SSbD (Prevention-based Governance). Her presentation, “Rapid Screening of Advanced Coating Materials and Coatings Developed within SSbD Framework,” focused on the rapid screening methodologies developed by UnivLeeds within BIO-SUSHY for our novel coating materials.
The conference provided an excellent platform for BIO-SUSHY to showcase our research results and create connections with other experts in the field.
