We are excited to share that the BIO-SUSHY project was recently featured in the Spanish media thanks to our partner ITENE. TechPress.es, a Spanish technology publisher, recently featured ITENE’s important work in our consortium.
The article, titled “PFAS, el reglamento europeo de envases y residuos de envases: enfoque SSBD, retos, límites y soluciones sostenibles” (PFAS, the European regulation on packaging and packaging waste: SSbD approach, challenges, limits, and sustainable solutions), highlights ITENE’s leadership in putting the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework into practice within the BIO-SUSHY project.
This focus is at the heart of the BIO-SUSHY mission: creating high-performance, bio-based coatings that are free from Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). As the European Union sets stricter rules on packaging and chemicals like PFAS, ITENE’s innovative work in our project is more important than ever.
The TechPress.es feature outlines how:
- The BIO-SUSHY project is directly tackling the challenges brought by new EU regulations.
- ITENE is using the SSbD framework from the very start, making sure our bio-based coatings are high-performing, safe, and sustainable throughout their entire lifecycle.
- This proactive approach offers real, sustainable solutions for the industry and goes beyond the limits of traditional materials.
This recognition from outside the project shows how important and timely the BIO-SUSHY project’s research is. It also highlights the need for teamwork and early-stage research to help the coatings and packaging industries in Europe stay ahead.
