BIO-SUSHY to Participate in SICT 2025 Conference with “Beyond PFAS” Workshop Session
We are excited to announce our participation in the upcoming SICT 2025 Conference , where we will join forces with our sister projects under the topic HORIZON-CL4-2022-RESILIENCE-01-23 for a dedicated workshop session titled “Beyond PFAS.”
The “Beyond PFAS” workshop session at SICT 2025 will focus on recent advances in developing safer, sustainable alternatives to PFAS-based coatings.
This session will bring together four EU Horizon Europe projects :
- ZEROF (GA: 101092164), coordinated by VTT (Finland)
- TORNADO (GA: 101091944), coordinated by TECNALIA (Spain)
- PROPLANET (GA: 101091842), coordinated by IDENER (Spain)
- BIO-SUSHY (GA: 101091464), coordinated by MATERIA NOVA (Belgium)
We are collectively working towards developing innovative, PFAS-free materials with inherently surface-active functions, designed for multi-industrial sector applications.
Key Highlights of the Workshop
The “Beyond PFAS” session will feature presentations on:
- Novel Bio-Based Materials as PFAS Alternatives: Discover cutting-edge bio-based materials that offer sustainable and safe alternatives to traditional PFAS.
- Lifecycle Considerations for Advanced Coating Techniques: Explore how lifecycle assessments can inform the development of more sustainable coating technologies.
- Integration of Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) Principles: Learn how SSbD principles are being integrated into the design and development of safer coating materials.
- Advancements in Safety, Circularity, and Functionality: Gain insights into the latest developments that enhance the safety, circularity, and functionality of coating materials and techniques.

The SICT 2025 Conference provides an excellent platform for researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers to exchange ideas and collaborate on advancing sustainable technologies. If you belong to one of the sister projects, you can now choose the “Beyond PFAS” workshop when submitting your abstract. The deadline for abstract submission is March 12, 2025 .
