Are you interested in discovering how BIO-SUSHY uses Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to support the design and assessment of PFAS-free coating materials?
On Wednesday, September 30th, from 10:00 to 12:00 (CET), the BIO-SUSHY project is hosting a free online training on how Life Cycle Assessment supports the development of PFAS-free coatings within the Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) framework. Participation is capped at around 30 attendees to keep it interactive and registrations are reviewed based on relevance to the topic.
Our partner Materia Nova, with the support of AXIA Innovation GmbH, will lead the session and cover:
🔹 The role of LCA within the SSbD framework for coating materials
🔹 The main phases of an LCA study according to ISO 14040/14044
🔹 Identifying environmental hotspots in coating value chains
🔹 Comparing conventional benchmark coatings vs. PFAS-free BIO-SUSHY coatings
🔹 How LCA results feed into material selection, compliance, and innovation decisions
Who should join? Early-career researchers, sustainability professionals, industrial R&D specialists, policymakers, and graduate students in chemistry, materials science, and environmental engineering.
Agenda:
10:00 – 10:15: Opening remarks, introduction, and project overview
10:15 – 10:25: Common Misconceptions about LCA
10:25 – 11:00: Module 1 – LCA Fundamentals
11:00 – 11:35: Module 2 – LCA in BIO-SUSHY & SSbD
11:35 – 11:50: Key Takeaway and Discussion
11:50 – 12:00: Wrap-up & Next Steps
