Wood K Plus represented the BIO-SUSHY project at Carinthia Innovates 2025, an international innovation event organised by BABEG. This year, 343 participants from 23 countries attended, allowing collaboration, technology exchange and cross-sector innovation.
At the event, Wood K Plus presented BIO-SUSHY’s first food tray demonstrators coated with a sustainable, PFAS-free coating. These prototypes represent a key milestone in developing safe and sustainable surface solutions that meet industry standards while reducing environmental and health impacts.
The team demonstrated how BIO-SUSHY’s hybrid bio-based coatings provide high-performance water and oil repellency, traditionally achieved with PFAS, while meeting the Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) framework. Visitors observed the demo, leading to discussions on market readiness, packaging applications and future opportunities.
Carinthia Innovates provided an opportunity to connect with innovators, manufacturers, investors and policymakers. This reinforced BIO-SUSHY’s commitment to advancing sustainable packaging materials and supporting the transition to greener, safer and more circular value chains.
